Gordon served on many governing boards for several community organizations including the Erskine College Board of Trustees, Community Foundation of Greenville Board of Directors, United Methodist Church Southeastern Jurisdictional Building Committee, John Wesley United Methodist Church Administrative Council, Benedict College National Alumni Association Board of Directors, Greenville University Center Board of Visitors, Greenville County Public Defender Board, and Greenville Federal Credit Union Board of Directors.
